Vote YES! on the GO Bond
to Protect Our Key Biscayne Paradise
On Tuesday, November 3, 2020 residents of the Village of Key Biscayne will have the opportunity to vote on whether the Village Council will be able to issue general obligation bonds when the time comes to fund resiliency projects.
This vote is NOT an approval to borrow any money. This vote will NOT result in the issuance of any bonds. An infrastructure project will still need to be approved by Village Council with a 4-3 vote. Then the approved project will have to be approved for financing by Village Council with a 5-2 vote, the same process that exists today.
A YES vote simply gives our Village Council the ability to use general obligation bonds (up to the debt cap) to fund planned resiliency projects at the most favorable financing costs and terms.
A YES vote will help us build a resilient future for the Village of Key Biscayne and strengthen our Island Paradise against current and future climate-related threats for both condos and homes. We are one island, one community.

Vote YES! for Shoreline Protection and Beach Restoration
Resilience is our responsibility. We have a responsibility to protect the Village of Key Biscayne’s beaches, infrastructure, and quality of life for the residents and their children who will inherent the Key. Implementing systemic changes to intricate infrastructure systems takes time and requires funding that the GO Bond will provide. The sooner we start, the sooner we, as a community, will see the benefits of these changes!
Vote YES! to Create Complete Streets Program to Address Flooding
Resilience is protecting something you love; our Island Paradise! We all love Key Biscayne; that is why we choose, as residents, to call this Island Paradise “home.”
It is our duty to protect that home against the ever-increasing challenges brought by climate change and adverse weather events.
Vote YES! to Strengthen our Infrastructure in a Way that Protects the Beauty of our Island Paradise
Resilience is being proactive, not reactive. Resilience is protecting our island proactively. It means providing the opportunity for every person in our community to bounce back after heavy rain induced large-scale flooding events, hurricanes, sea level rise, or other challenging conditions, and to not only survive, but thrive in the face of the present and worsening threats.
